Sensei Jeremy Hall

3rd Dan – Okinawan Shorinryu Karatedo

Sensei Jeremy Hall started Karate at the age of four. He received his 1st Degree Black Belt (Shodan) at the young age of eight on July 9, 1999, from Kyoshi Jeff Bateman. On August 27, 2004, he received his 2nd Degree Black Belt (Nidan) at the age of fourteen after testing before Master Tadashi Yamashita. Jeremy has devoted over 10 years to the martial arts and assisting his dad, Kyoshi Bateman.

Over the years, Jeremy has won numerous awards. In 1998, he was a Gold medallist in Kata, Kumite, and Weapons at the XXXII AAU Junior Olympic Games. At the XXXIII Junior Olympic Games, he earned a Bronze medal in Kata. He has competed and won many Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games of Virginia, and in 2001, was named the “Male Athlete of the Year”. Also in 2001, he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame as “Regional Male Junior Competitor of the Year in Shorin Ryu”. In 2006, he was inducted into the Action Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame for “Outstanding Achievements in the Martial Arts”.

Jeremy took part in the 2003 Okinawa and Japan Tour with Master Yamashita. He trained at Sensei Matayoshi’s dojo, as well as on the beaches and in the ocean surrounding the islands. He had the opportunity to experience Japanese culture and learn about the ancestry of traditional karate.

Sensei Jeremy attends Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia. He hopes to have a future in the Air Force as a pilot and is working very hard towards that goal. In 2004, he became a member of the National Junior Honor Society. In 2005, he received his “Varsity Letter” in Cross Country, was named “Most Enthusiastic Male Competitor”, and was part of the “Top 15” at the 2005 City Meet. He is very active in the NJROTC Program at his school. In 2006, he was named the Battalion Athletics Officer and is the Company Green Commander for the 2006-2007 school year. During the summer of 2006, he worked as a lifeguard at Ft. Monroe Army Base in Hampton. When he has spare time, he enjoys playing paint ball and the guitar.
